District RS Meeting

Maputo Distrito -  Sociadade de Socorro (RS) Reuniao 28 /09/13

This  was a meeting that we helped Sister Kretly with on Saturday.  The building is owned by the church.  It has three levels.  The chapel is the terra (ground) floor, classrooms on the 2nd level (1st floor) and a small distribution center on the 3rd level.  We have 10 sisters missionaries here, 5 arrived just the week before us.  This is the first time to have sisters in Mozambique.  The ladies you can see in the front (right) row are wearing their capulanas.  It is really handy.  They come to the church in pants and then wrap them around and wallah! they are dressed up, they use them for shawls and use them to carry their babies either in the front or on their backs or wrap around their heads for scarfs and to carry bundles on their heads.  What a multi-purpose tool!

This is the group of doctors and nurses that are training with us.  We are all working hard to process the information that is being given us in these 4 days.  We all leave on Friday or Saturday to our mission assignments, except Dr and Sister Potter who are working from home via telephone because they are waiting on visas to Brazil.  They will be taking Dr. Bingham's place who is leaving soon.  We worked with Dr Bingham when we were in Sao Paulo at the MTC there.  Our brains are MUSH!

Reporting In

Saturday the 14th of September.  We are finally packed and ready to report to Salt lake City for our Missionary Medical training.  We were scheduled to go into the MTC in Provo on Monday the 9th, but delayed because of the passing of my father.  It was a hard week, but we got through it and were very grateful that Melissa (our oldest daughter) was able to stay a few extra days and help us clean and pack.  We are on our way to Missionary Medical training in Salt Lake City.  This is it!  We are on our way to Africa!
